A young startup company in Dakar, founded to introduce new ways of promoting Senegalese culture and tourism, has become a big hit. In a short period of time, the Instagram account of the ‘Dakar Lives’ startup has connected to no less than 66,000 fans and followers.
‘Dakar Lives’ is now a thriving business, connecting a network of freelance photographers, bloggers, web designers, filmmakers and other creatives in Senegal to a large audience. Their work shows the real Senegal, the founders promise, by offering a kaleidoscope of images, stories and videos that generate a very entertaining experience.
The ‘Dakar Lives’ Instagram spot (4.321 posts) serves as a lively and entertaining travel guide for locals and visitors on which businesses pay to be featured. OkayAfrica reports that Dakar Lives also operates as an agency that assists the Minister of Senegalese tourism with events like Dakar's Biennale, a large-scale art festival being held in summer 2018. ‘Dakar Lives’ also creates content for hotels and partners with Tastemakers Africa, offering its expertise for trips to Senegal.
