South Africa will soon have the latest and largest data centre in the region. Internet Solutions will open a 1,600 square metres data centre in Rosebank, Johannesburg. It will be one of the most sustainable and energy-efficient pre-fabricated data centres in Africa.
The new Parklands Data Centre is a R500 million (€30.7 million) investment by Internet Solutions; the company already owns and operates a network of 17 data centres across South Africa.
The facility will provide 572 racks and 2.2 megawatts of IT power. With growth of cloud-based computing in Southern Africa, the demand for supplier-agnostic, secure data centres on the continent has increased.
The company regards this centre as one of the most sustainable and energy-efficient pre-fabricated data centres in Africa. The Parklands Data Centre has clever dynamic power and cooling systems. Infrastructure can be switched on and ramped-up depending on the demand at any point in time.
