Booking Holdings, world leader in online travel, has invested US$500 million in China’s taxi ride-hailing company DIDI Chuxing. Booking Holdings, with brands such as Booking. com, priceline.com, agoda.com, Kayak, rentalcars.com & OpenTable, is partnering with Didi to help it offer its services beyond its core business.
The idea behind the investment is for the two companies to leverage each other’s technology and local operating expertize to offer more comprehensive and personalized quality travel experiences across the world.
The two enterprise may form a good team. According to Shanghai Daily, Didi users will be able to use Booking’s sites including booking.com, priceline.com and agoda.com to book hotels and Booking Holdings users will have access to Didi’s on-demand service.
