Coca-Cola builds green bottling plant in KunmingCoca Cola is building a new, large-scale eco-friendly bottling plant in Kunming, Yunnan Province. Construction of the plant is part of a $4 billion investment plan that was initiated in 2015.

China is the third largest market for Coca-Cola globally. According to the Shanghai Daily, the new plant will become an important production base for Coca-Cola in China’s southwest region. It is to fulfil the fast increasing beverage demand of 47 million consumers in Yunnan province. When completed, the plant will increase the number of bottling lines from 4 to 12, offering an annual capacity of 423 million unit cases of beverage of brands like Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Ice Dew and Ice Dew Chunyue

The plant, covering an area of 195,632 square meters, is to be built according to green building standards in various aspects from site selection, building environment, water-saving, energy-saving, air protection, material and resource utilization, indoor environment quality and design innovation.
