Court hires robot assistant

A court in Beijing has installed a robot with the name Xiaofa that explains law and litigation to the public. The AI-powered robot harnesses IBM Watson technology and is able to work in different business environments.

To visitors of the court, the robot can explain about the 7,000 laws and regulations that have been stored in its memory. In this way, it teaches visitors about the litigation process, the rules and details of previous cases.

Apple news service reports that Xiaofa was manufactured by QIHAN, that promotes the robot as a cost-effective, efficient way to provide important information to the public. The manufacturer regards robotics-as-a-service as “an instrumental industry solution that is transforming how we interact with the world around us.”
