A new chapter in airport art: Doha

Airports are finding new ways to incorporate art in their customer experience. The latest as well as the largest example of this trend is the SMALL LIE art piece that Doha's Hamad International Airport has unveiled this month.

SMALL LIE is a giant, 12-meter high sculpture by American artist KAWS. It is a gift from the Qatar Museum as part of its commitment to making art available to the public outside the gallery.

To put the art piece in its place, the airport had to dismantle the airport façade at concourse D. After that, the technical installation took several weeks. The artist KAWS flew in to Qatar to present his artwork. An AirportWorld report quotes him saying that he hopes his work can help "transport passengers into another realm".
