Obviously, we love flying, so any trip is pleasant and interesting. But if your business trips tend to be tough & tedious, try to add some fun. Here are 10 ways to travel for business – the fun way.

So if you have some free time during your trip, here are some great ideas, according to Inc.com and Quora:

  • Food - Join Foursquare on the web and search for deals and recommended spots close to where you're staying.
  • Music - Subscribe to the top event newsletters for your most frequently-visited cities to hear about live music nights and concerts.
  • Good company - Join groups on meetup.com to hear about special-interest events happening in the cities you frequently visit for business.
  • Accommodation - Try to stay away from the hotel chains. Book ‘local’ to add some flavour and couleur locale.
  • Health & Fitness - Make the most of jet lag by taking early-morning walks or jogs
  • On the plane/in transit - Download podcasts about topics that you're interested in so you can listen to them when waiting to board a plane or at times when it's not convenient to be reading a book. Buy a proper noise-canceling headphone. Not being able to hear airplane and people sounds will help save your energy.
  • Apps & Entertainment - Check the iTunes library for walking tour apps. Many cities in the US (like Chicago and Boston) have excellent, free walking tour apps.
