Shell, Transavia, TU Delft, Koninklijke NLR and Rotterdam The Hague Airport have agreed to work together on the goal of offering cleaner, quieter and smarter flights from the airport, located between The Hague and Rotterdam.

The organisations, participating in the Rotterdam The Hague Innovation Airport (RHIA) initiative, have signed a renewed proposition to work together, after four years of collaboration.

Rotterdam Innovation City reports about the DutcH2 Aviation Hub, one of the projects that has been launched already. The project aims to develop a local infrastructure for the production, storage and usage of green hydrogen. The project also creates a hydrogen connection between airports and supports the first flights from RTHA by pioneers such as ZeroAvia, AeroDelft en Conscious Aerospace. The project plays an important role in hydrogen driven flights from Rotterdam The Hague Airport.

The RHIA-community will work on several other projects.

  • Innovation for sustainable, quieter and smarter planes (Fieldlab Next Aviation).
  • Faster application of sustainable fuels.
  • A global standard for the best traveller experience by applying AI (Artificial Intelligence), biometry and smart sensors (ATL).
  • Research possibilities around the landing strip for quieter flights.
  • Continue development of the airport as a smart hub for green energy (Smart Energy Airport)
