El Dorado AirportSouth America’s third busiest airport is currently undergoing a complete makeover. The extensive construction and refurbishment effort is to make Colombia’s El Dorado International Airport in Bogota an easy and comfortable place to arrive, transport and depart.

The €1 billion investment aims to completely renovate and modernise the airport, although ‘rebuild’ would come closer. The old terminal building has been fully renewed and replaced with a modern, functional and up-to-date construction, that is to give the airport the capacity to serve more than 40 million passengers a year by 2020. The money was invested in all things that matter to (international) travellers, like check-in facilities and roomy customs and immigrations facilities. The work continues, and executive lounges and children’s play areas are two additional projects currently in progress.

Additional to all the modern facilities, this airport is a lot more fun to spend time in. In
partnership with the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, El Dorado International Airport has launched the Music for Travelling programme, a series of music performances by chamber music groups and symphonic orchestras. In September 2016, the airport terminal will be the venue for Bogota International Fashion Week.
