Most and least popular airports, according to TwitterBusiness travellers often share positive and negative experiences on social media, especially about airports. Some they love, some they hate. Mashable.com asked Crimson Hexagon to analyse more than 3 million tweets about US airports over the past year and make a list of the most and least popular airports. The outcome is that Orlando International gets most positive tweets, Philadelphia International gets most negative tweets.

Some airports invest millions in lounges and other facilities, others seem to have other priorities. Mashable looked at Twitter mentions of the top 20 most-trafficked airports in the United States to see which were making customers happy, and which were making them miserable. By comparing the percentage of positive and negative tweets about each airport, this is the top 5 of airports that make travellers happy.

  1. Orlando International, Florida (MCO)
  2. Salt Lake City, Utah (SLC)
  3. Miami International, Florida (MIA)
  4. Minneapolis-St. Paul International, Minnesota (MSP)
  5. Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas (DFW)

This is the list of the airports that received the highest numbers of negative tweets:

  1. Philadelphia International, Pennsylvania (PHL)
  2. George Bush International, Houston, Texas (IAH)
  3. LaGuardia, New York, New York (LGA)
