The Mall of Africa (Gauteng, SA) just installed a huge solar roof to help meet the electricity requirements of this large shopping centre. The 4,755kWp installation is the world’s tenth largest roof solar system.
The owner of the mall, Attacq, claims that this is the world’s largest mixed-use integrated solar power-diesel hybrid solution. SA Property Insider reports that the installation covers most of the centre’s roof space, an area of approximately 45,000m² or 4.5ha. On an annual base, it will produce 7,800MWh energy, enough to power the Mall’s daily operations.
