Travel record for Shanghai

The latest travel statistics have shown Shanghai’s popularity as a business and tourist destination. According to the Shanghai General Station of Immigration Inspection, about 148,000 people arrived in or left China via Shanghai on July 14. This is a new single-day travel volume record.

Shanghai Daily reports that, in the first half of 2018, 22.77 million inbound and outbound passengers have been registered, this is 9.3 percent more than in the same period last year. In this first half year, more than 25,000 foreign visitors enjoyed the 144-hour visa-free transit policy offered at Pudong International Airport. This is 20 percent more than in the same period last year. The policy allows foreign visitors to stay in Shanghai without a visa for 144 hours.
