An example for Africa: 30-year-old minister in Botswana

Bogolo Joy Kenewendo is the youngest minister Botswana ever had. Followers and fans on local social media agree that the recently appointed new Investment, Trade and Industry Minister is an example for Africa.

Only two years after she had become a member of parliament, Kenewendo was appointed by Botswana’s new president Mokgweetsi Masisi. The minister has previously worked as a trade economist in the Ministry of Trade and Industry in the Government of Ghana.

AfricaNews reports that on social media, many Africans say her appointment despite her age is a rare feat that needs to be replicated across the continent. Kenewendo holds an MSc in International Economics from the University of Sussex (UK). She founded Molaya Kgosi, a women leadership and mentorship program.
