China to lead global business travel spendAccording to Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the global business travel spend which will rise to a record of € 993 billion by 2014. 40% of this spending comes from Asia Pacific, most of it comes from China.

The Global Business Travel Association expects that China will become the most important business travel destination by 2016. The country will surpass the United States by 2016. China was in the statistics with €27 billion in the year 2000, has now grown to €177 billion of business travel spend at the end of 2013 and is set to increase by another 15% by the end of this year.

One of the fastest climbers on the GBTA list is India, which, over the last 15 years, has worked its way up from the number 24 to number 10 in 2013. GBTA expects India will continue to move up in the rankings.
