Henn-na Hotel (Nagasaki): robots at your serviceThey will check you in and take you and your luggage to your room. The ten ‘human-like’ robots of the brand new Henn-na robot hotel in Nagasaki will even deliver your room service order and clean your room. The (human) hotel management expects that about 90 per cent of all hotel tasks will be performed by robots.

The high-tech Nagasaki hotel is employing 10 robots, three of which are multilingual gynoids. Some of the so-called ‘actroids’ work as receptionists and are said to be able to establish eye contact and respond to body language.

Other staff robots will make your coffee, clean your room and deliver your laundry. The 72-room hotel has a number of interesting features like facial recognition tech to open guest rooms, a system that detects body heat to auto-adjust room temperatures and the use of tablets to call for room service. Single rooms rates range from $60 to $153 per night. And yes, the hotel also has a staff of 10 human employees.
