The future of air travel – the pod seatWhat will future aircraft interiors look like? Maybe like this, with passengers sitting next and above each other, in pod-style seats.

Creative designers of UK-based Factorydesign dreamed up the Air Lair concept, in which single seats are stacked on top of one another. The pod layout would benefit single first- and business class travellers who want to have minimal interaction with others while in the air, Adam White, Factorydesign's director, explained to Skift.com. Once inside the pod, passengers would be able to sit upright or lie flat. "It’s a seat for single people. It is a private space".

The designer also suggested airlines should adopt different way of grouping passengers on board an aircraft, in zones according to passenger needs rather than simply Economy, Business and First classes. Such an arrangement would allow for a wider variety of passengers to have a more comfortable flight, he said.
