Wang Jianlin is now Asia’s richest businessman

Wang Jianlin, the chairman of the Chinese Dalian Wanda enterprise, is now Asia’s richest man. By successfully building his business on property, hotel and cinema company, he overtook Jack Ma (Alibaba) and Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing.

The Independent reports that Wang’s fortune is now valued at $38.6 billion. He made his money in property, department stores and hotels. He boosted his earnings in 2012 by acquiring cinema chain AMC Entertainment for $2.6 billion. Since then, Dalian Wanda is the world’s largest cinema operator.

Wang owns 20 per cent of Atlético Madrid, the Spanish football team, and Picasso’s ‘Claude and Paloma’. Jack Ma is worth $34.8 billion. He owns the world’s largest collection of e-commerce sites.
