New York City still growing – 48 large new hotels in pipelineBusiness and leisure travel to New York is still growing. 53 Million visitors in a year come to the city – a rise of over 50 per cent compared to the 35 million visitors of 2002. The hotels keep up with growth.

According to global b2b hotel data provided TOPHOTELPROJECTS 74 new hotels with about 13,500 rooms opened in New York in the past seven years. And it does not stop there. Currently 48 new large hotels are in the pipeline in New York City. Among these newcomers, some hotels will certainly appeal to business travellers. Some examples: Park Hyatt One57 will open its doors in September. InterContinental Hotels opened two Event boutique hotels with 380 rooms. Starwood Hotels plans the inauguration of two Aloft hotels with 345 rooms in total, one of them this autumn. AC Hotel by Marriott (126 rooms) will also open this autumn.

Manhattan hotel market registered more than 350 existing hotels with 82,000 rooms. The average occupancy rate was recently at 87 per cent with an average overnight stay rate of US$280.
