Hong Kong International Airport's new long pedestrian bridge, 200 meters long and 30 meters high, will soon be ready for use by passengers. The Sky Bridge, the world’s longest airside bridge that is high enough for and A380 aircraft to pass underneath it, is one step closer to reality.

The bridge will save passengers at Hong Kong International Airport a lot of time. The main prefabricated section has been put into position after arriving by ship from China. The pedestrian bridge connects Terminal 1 and the North Satellite Concourse. When completed, passenger will no longer have to board shuttle buses from one side to the other, saving time.

As an additional bonus, travelers using the bridge will enjoy phenomenal views of the airport and of the action on the platform. The air-conditioned footbridge will boast its own restaurant and bar.

Airport World reports that the prefabricated main structure of the bridge, weighing over 5,000 tonnes, was transported over 3 kilometers on HKIA’s apron from the assembly yard to the bridge’s final position.
