Kyoto, one of Japan’s most important conference and incentive cities, has added a new interesting venue. The Kyoto Aquarium in Umekoji Park is a great place for conferences, events and incentives. The fish and dolphin tanks and the aquariums offer quite an unusual setting for meetings, as a number of international hosts already found out.

Nice to meet you in... KyotoThe Kyoto Aquarium is a new attraction for business visitors to Kyoto. Located in Umekoji Park, the aquarium offers both high end conferencing facilities as well as an unusual location for receptions and dinner. It boasts a 1500 seat dolphin stadium, while smaller spaces can accommodate from 80 to 350 people, with the venue available for evening events such as products launches, receptions and gala dinners. Kyoto Convention Bureau’s international marketing co-ordinator, James Widgren, mentions that the Aquarium offers a great location, as well as “excellent transport links and accessibility to a range of high quality hotels”, making it ideal for a variety of international events.

This is the first aquarium in Japan to use completely synthetic seawater. There are approximately 15,000 marine animals of around 250 different species, including spotted seals and African penguin. The biggest attraction is the big tank. Replicating the coastal waters of Japan, it offers visitors the opportunity to view a diverse array of sea creatures in close up, including the spotted eagle ray, the long tooth grouper, the green sea turtle, and the pitted stingray.
