Back in the 1970s and 1980s, Chow Kit was synonymous with the seedier side of Kuala Lumpur. Today, the Chow Kit Hotel is Kuala Lumpur’s new smart boutique hotel.

The recently opened 113-room hotel is located in KL’s hippest new neighborhood. The Chow Kit is the first boutique hotel property of the the Malaysia-based Ormond Group.

The hotel was developed by Studio Tack, a NY Brooklyn-based design firm. Thanks to their inspirational work, the property showcases local materials and reinterprets as well as honors the past. The Chow Kit is an ‘arty’ boutique hotel that boasts an interesting Art Program.

The Out of Town Blog reports that an array of artworks is featured in the hotel’s guestrooms and public areas. These artworks are created by local artists of Malaysia and other countries in Southeast Asia.

The hotel rooms feature a smart TV, open wardrobe and desk space, a self-pickup room service and bespoke toiletries. The all-day Chow Kit Kitchen on the ground floor of the hotel is inspired by local Malaysian Kopitiams, traditional cafes.
